LOVE THAT NEVER GROWS OLD

by Stan C. Countz

Do you recall all the stories you once told?
Are you happy that He finally took you home?
Are you walking the streets paved with gold?
Have you found a love that never grows old?

Can you see all the tears that we're cryin'?
I guess it must've been your time to go
Even so, a piece of each one of us is dyin'
Can't keep from sighin'or tryin' to hold on
to the memory of how it used to be so long ago

CHORUS
Way back when; I was just a little kid
Rememberin' all the silly things we did
All the times you nearly flipped your lid
I hope you can forgive us
for all the silly things we did

You were there when I was a kid growin' up
When your loved ones were dead and buried
You were there when I was just a pup
You were there when I got married

You came to our birthday parties
And to our special celebrations
But now you can't attend no more
You're on a permanent vacation

Can you forgive us for the things
We did or didn't do?
Can you finally see the difference
Between a fib and the truth?

I ain't lookin' for sympathy or a good excuse
You can write it off to the arrogance of youth
We hadn't yet received our first wisdom tooth
We all make mistakes; ain't that the truth?

Way back when; I was just a little kid
Rememberin' all the silly things we did
All the times you nearly flipped your lid
I hope you can forgive us
for all the silly things we did

OUTRO
The story never ends
I hope you see your family and friends
and finally make amends
and find peace for your soul
Forgiveness for your sins
Love that never grows old
and joy that never ends
